Jo Bisso

Jo Bisso was born and raised in Yaoundé, Cameroon. A big fan of Otis Reading and Wilson Picket, he discovered American soul music and fell in love with it. Ambitious and in search of new opportunities, Jo moved to France. He signed with the record label Decca that produced his first hit Flying To The Land Of Soul. He then moved to New York for several years. He created several albums in which he collaborated with artists such as Sookie and Venice. Jo produced his first mixed album Jo Bisso with the Parisian label Disques Espérance in 1975. The album is a mix of jazz, funk, soul, afro rhythms and is sung in English and in his mother tongue. He played a wide variety of instruments. The album is about love and the travails of life. Jo, who set the direction of his music, owned his music and produced it, was a man ahead of his time. In 1981, Jo moved to the Ivory Coast. He lived there for 8 years as a cultural ambassador. Today, Jo lives in Paris. He thinks it is great that people love his music and continue to appreciate it over the years.

Jo Bisso est né et a grandi à Yaoundé au Cameroun. Grand fan de Otis Reading et de Wilson Picket, il découvre la musique soul américaine et en tombe amoureux. Très ambitieux et à l'afflux de nouvelles opportunités, Jo quitte le Cameroun et s'installe en France. Il sigbe avec la maison de disque Decca qui produit son premier tube 'Flying To The Land Of Soul'. Il s'envole ensuite pour New-York. Dès son retour à Paris, il créé plusieurs albums dans lesquels on retrouve des chansons en collaboration avec des artistes tels que Sookie et Venise. Jo produit son premier album mixte Jo Bisso avec le label parisien Disques Espérance en 1975. L'album est un mélange de Jazz, funk, soul, de rythmes afro et est chanté en Anglais et en sa langue maternelle. Il y joue une grande variété d'instruments. L'album parle d'amour et des coups de la vie. Jo est en avance sur son temps. A une époque où la musique n'est pas traitée comme il se doit, Jo décide de prendre son destin en main. Il crée son propre label et produit trois albums. Puis concède les licences d'albums à TK Disco. En 1981, Jo s'installe en Côte d'Ivoire. Il y séjourne durant 8 ans. Il est ambassadeur culturel. Aujourd'hui, Jo réside à Paris. Il trouve formidable que les gens aiment sa musique et continuent à l'apprécier au fil de toutes ces années.
